As part of its Star Wars film concert series, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will present a screening of The Empire Strikes Back this summer while performing the scores of Oscar-winning composer John Williams live at the Orpheum Theatre.
“Fans will be able to experience the scope and grandeur of this beloved film in a live symphonic concert experience,” the VSO said in a release.
The Empire Strikes Back was released 40 years ago. The second and most critically acclaimed film of the Star Wars franchise introduced the world to both Yoda and Lando Calrissian. The movie also dropped the bombshell revelation the Darth Vader was actually … (spoiler ahead) … Luke Skywalker’s father.
The VSO will present three 7 p.m. screenings on July 4, 5 and 6 at Vancouver’s historic Orpheum Theatre (601 Smithe Street).
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Feb. 14 at 8 p.m.
