Pincourt’s Intercultural Festival offers global taste of food, music

The Town of Pincourt will hold its sixth Intercultural Festival on Saturday at the Desjardins Kiosk at Olympique Park.

The one-day festival, which runs from 2 to 8 p.m., will feature some 20 kiosks representing countries such as India, Mexico, Bulgaria, Korea, Japan, China, Egypt, Romania and Moldova.

“The Intercultural Festival is a unique opportunity to learn more about the cultural origins of Pincourt citizens,” the town said in a statement. “Families and citizens are invited to come together and talk to each other about their cultural background. This is a unique opportunity to taste dishes from around the world.”

Pincourt’s Intercultural Festival is also an opportunity to introduce children to different cultures from around the globe. A makeup area, inflatable games, snacks and a Mobile Library will be available for toddlers.

The festivities begin at 2 p.m. at Olympique Park, located at 375 Cardinal-Léger Blvd.

The Notre-Dame-de-Lorette school choir will put on a show, the La Presqu’Île Baseball Association will offer a baseball workshop, and the KUMON Center of Île-Perrot will host a singing activity.

At 4 p.m., children will parade wearing the traditional dress of their country.

At 5 p.m., Rachelle Endozo and Jofre Maala will give a singing performance as part of Filipino Heritage Month,

At 6 p.m., Tina Struthers will unveil works of art produced through cultural mediation in Pincourt schools.

To cap off the festival, singer ILAM from Dakar, Senegal will give a musical performance ”inspired by both Sahel Blues and Afro-Pop Rock with Reggae and Soul accents.”

ILAM was crowned world music Révélation Radio-Canada for 2016-2017.

There will also be a kiosk with alcohol, including wine and microbrewery beer.
