Morning commuters warned of major delays across Sydney trains

Passengers across the Sydney trains network have been warned to expect major delays on their morning commute due to urgent signal repairs.

Commuters travelling on the T1 Western Line and North Shore Line, T2 Inner West and Leppington Line, T3 Bankstown Line, T8 Airport and South Line, T9 Northern Line, Blue Mountains Line and Central Coast and Newcastle Line are being advised to allow plenty of extra travel time as the signalling issue between Strathfield and Ashfield is fixed.

The repair work was completed just before 6am, and buses began supplementing trains about 6.10am between Redfern and Strathfield, however Sydney Trains asked passengers to continue to allow extra travel time.

The Transport Management Centre said passengers should listen to announcements and check indicator boards as train stopping patterns might change.

Sydney Trains said they were working to restore frequent service.
