After the passenger in an impaired-driving stop near a Longueuil police station was allowed to leave, she was hit by another driver.
A 25-year-old woman is in hospital and two men arrested after an incident that took place a few paces from a Longueuil police station early Sunday morning.
Responding to a 911 call reporting erratic driving, police stopped a vehicle at approximately 4 a.m. Sunday on Joliette St., not far from the Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL) station on Curé-Poirier Blvd. W.
A female passenger had stepped out of the vehicle after the police stop and was permitted to leave the scene, according to SPAL spokesperson Ghyslain Vallières. As the woman was crossing the street, she was hit by a second vehicle.
She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The drivers of the first car, a man in his 40s, and of the second car, a man aged 34, were both arrested and are expected to face impaired-driving-related charges.
Both vehicles were impounded.
The Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI) will conduct an investigation, which is required whenever a person is injured in a police incident.
